Life has been crazy...
Life has been crazy and I haven't posted recently. Megan continues to progress through her egg desensitization without any reactions. Dr. Wasserman is so pleased. Megan is up to 150mg capsules of egg powder!!!
Flu shot
Today Megan got her first ever FLU SHOT. Thanks to egg desensitization Megan was able to get the shot.

Egg a la whipped cream
Variety, the spice of life..
Megan is having fun mixing her egg powder with different concoctions. So far we have used honey, chocolate syrup, caramel syrup, and inside of licorice. The possibilities are endless. I am sure that once we are up to a larger amount of egg powder it will not be so easy. At that point we will have to mix it into whatever she eats. But for now it is fun just using fun foods.

Green Eggs and Ham
Green Eggs and Ham is a classic Dr. Seuss book that all kids have read to them and then eventually learn to read for themselves. Many kids, want to at some point, try green eggs and ham. I know I did. I can't wait until Megan can eat eggs and we can celebrate by having a Green Eggs and Ham party!!! What a day that will be.

A very good question
Someone messaged me this question...
Hi Jennifer,
I'm so glad that Megan is doing so well with the egg, and that you are sharing the journey. Love seeing those updates!!
I know you're busy but if you get a chance can you let me know if you have discussed puberty and desensitization with Dr. Wasserman at all? I know the kids immunity changes as their hormonal surges begin, sometimes more for girls. For instance they know in pregnancy that about 2/3 women's asthma gets worse, 1/3 gets better.. but don't know why. Has he shared any insights about pre-teen/teen patients and whether they have troubles remaining desensitized thru puberty?
Amy
And here is Dr. Wasserman's response.
There are a variety of hormonal effects on the immune system but, in real life, they are usually unpredictable. We have had several teenage desensitization patients, both male and female, and they don't seem to have behaved differently than our other patients.

We moved
I haven't blogged lately because we moved across town and life has been incredibly chaotic. Megan continues to progress in her egg desensitization without any issues. This week is our last week to have Kool-aid egg. Next week we are on to egg capsules!!! Megan has remained reaction free except for the first week or two of the desensitization process. My kiddo's tend to never follow the norm and always seem to be the exception to the rule when it comes to health issues. It is the ongoing joke or thinking if you were to talk to any of their doctors. I bring this up because Megan has done so very well with the egg desensitization process. I so feared Megan being one of the patients that would end up not being able to maintain and have to stop the process. But she has proven me so very wrong. THIS IS HUGE FOR US!!!!!!
